Press statement on Justice Steven Kavuma’s gagging of debate on Shs 6B oil cash payments

The deputy chief justice Mr. Steven Kavuma must stop using the law to serve injustice and cheat Ugandans, a consortium of nine civil society organisations working for justice and equitable development in Uganda has said. The organisations which include Africa Institute for Energy Governance (AFIEGO), Global Rights Alert (GLA), National Association of Professional Environmentalists (NAPE) and Centre for Constitutional Governance (CCG), made the above call following the issuance of an interim order restraining parliament, any persons or authority from investigating or inquiring into the Shs 6 billion oil cash bonus payment made to several government officials.
